StitchCalcs is a small, independent collection of free calculators for knitting, crochet, cross-stitch and quilting.

What the site is for

Crafting involves a surprising amount of arithmetic: spacing decreases across a row, adjusting a pattern to your gauge, working out how much yarn or fabric to buy. Each page here does one of those jobs quickly, on any device, without an account or an app. Every calculator also explains the method it uses, so you can check the result or do the sum yourself next time.

How it's made

StitchCalcs is built and maintained with the help of AI. The calculators and their explanations are written with Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. The maths behind every calculator is checked by automated tests before a change goes live, and each page shows its formula and a worked example.

AI can still get things wrong, and patterns and crafters don't always agree on conventions. If a result looks off, trust your pattern and your swatch.
